What does the Mac app do that the extensions don't?
The extensions clean up pages inside your browser. The Mac app works at the network level: it filters DNS lookups for your entire machine, so ads, trackers and AI crawlers are blocked in every app - not just the browser. It also gives you:
- a dashboard of what's being blocked across your devices,
- per-device management (add devices, each gets its own secure DNS profile),
- pause controls and an allowlist that apply system-wide.
Use both together for the best coverage: the app blocks junk before it loads, the extensions clean up whatever renders in the page.
